We all appreciate that sound adds a new sensory dimension to model trains. Decoders are miniaturizing constantly while the sound quality is increasing due to advanced sound processors and speakers with deeper and wider frequency response (FR).
Two factors which can be further refined are the inputs and outputs from the DCC sound system. By that we mean the raw recordings, editing of those recordings to create prototypically correct sounds and the decoder's capacity to simulate the specific prototype.
This site has been formed to further develop and offer the sound input side of things, for the lesser known EMD derivative engines.
Many hours are involved in the creation of these 'seemingly simple' sound files. Firstly, the locomotive must be secured for a set length of time, the weather has to be kind, and if the recordings are successful, approximately 50 hours behind the computer editing the recordings is required to create a convincing sound for protoypical operation.
This site is not for profit where any funds recouped support further sound projects for your enjoyment.
We are not affiliated with ESU or any other manufacturer.
