A 'sound installs' page has been added to the site. The page lists LokSound decoder installations for recent models, including the B, S, T, Y & DERM.

After the flat cab T class project is completed around April, new projects will be looked at, maybe a Walker and a 12-645e3 locomotive.

Update 19JAN2010

Posted by dccsound at 03:11 AM on January 19, 2010 Comments comments (0)

The ML2 "B class" project is now complete and ready for customers. The B class project includes the 16-567BC prime mover and Wabco type A & B airhorns, as recorded from B74 at Seymour. A new feature,as seen on the B class project is variable prime mover start-up time. The decoder does this by looping the prime mover cranking-over recording a random number of times. So when two B classes are started in a consist at the same time, they may fire up at different times.

A B class sample video has been added to the sound samples page.

Next up is the flat-top T class in a few months time.

While Phil works on the B class release for January, we've created some snazzy ringtones for your mobile based off our recordings of VR motive power. Checkout the RIngtones page for details!

Update 14DEC2009

Posted by dccsound at 01:47 AM on December 14, 2009 Comments comments (0)

EMD 16-567C sound files are now available for the S class, with either the 3 chime RVB Hurricane airhorn, or the Leslise S5-T airhorn.

We are now working on the B class 16-567BC prime mover recordings, and hope to have them available in early January.

Sound files can be uploaded to LokSound decoders either here in Australia, or via Phil in the USA. We will do other formats, if and when other decoders manufacturers can get up to speed with better sound control algorithms.

Update 28NOV2009

Thanks to Phil, the S class sound files have reached beta release stage and we are now testing and tweaking the files to iron out the quibbles. The files sound great - just like the day they were recorded from S303, which is the aim after all. Going forward, we hope to have the final release done in the next week or so. Fitting the 16-567 files into the limited memory of the LokSound chip has been a challenge. The 16 cylinder is slower to respond than a 6 or 8 cylinder, and as a result, we have 0.182 seconds left to play with - squeezy!

If you are just after a 16-567 equipped sound decoder and would be happy with the S class recordings for your B class, then just holler. Otherwise, wait for the B class files which we will be working on very soon. Keep a check on the files page for release updates.

Update 29SEPT2009

Today saw the recording of S303, B74 & T320 with the help of SRHC. Support these guys as they do a great job! It is envisaged that sounds for these locomotives will be available in late November 2009, coinciding with the release of Trainorama's S class and Ausicision model's B class. The T class files will suit Austrains' series 1 T class, or other models released in the past. Please revisit the dccsound website in early November.

Update 21SEPT2009

Sound files have been well received for the Y & T class locos, proving to be most popular. The DERM files have been received by a few, though it is suspected few have built up SEM DERMs for which a sound decoder can be fitted.

Whistles for the K and J class 2-8-0 steam locos will be posted shortly, combining some short whistles, along with a nice long whistle.

The next series of recordings will be of the B, S and series 1 T class. We hope to have these available by late November, around the time of the release of the Auscision B class and Trainorama S class, though the T class won't be release by Austrains until about 2012 or beyond.
