DCC cab operation

Explanation of functions:

The following illustrates a DCC Cab and which buttons operate which sound functions. The assignment has been done to allow ease of operation, follows general mapping protocol and is compatible with starter systems such as Digitrax's Zephyr:

Note: Unless requested otherwise, loco address is short 3 on all re-flashed decoders

Typical sequence of operation:

1) Select the locomotive using your cab. 2) Press F1. This will start up the prime mover from silence and the locomotive will settle into idle. 3) Select direction on your DCC cab. 4) Press 'headlight' or F0 to activate the headlight. 5) Throttle up slowly. The decoder has momentum built in to simulate the prototype's acceleration as well as top speed and braking capacity. 6) As the locomotive accelerates, the user can activate F5 to manually notch up the prime mover sound to simulate a heavy load. 7) Conversely, F6 is used to throttle down when less prime mover influence is desired. This will reduce the prime mover sound down to idle if left activated. When the desired lower notch is reached, F6 should be deactivated. The locomotive could be coasting at this point. 8) The throttle (speed step) should be lowered to zero once the train is to be stopped. 9) Once the headlight is turned off with F0, F1 activates the prime mover shutdown sequence. Alternatively F9 can be assigned start-up/shutdown if you wish to use F1 for an alternative horn/whistle.
