Items used:

ESU 58420 LokSound 5 DCC 8 pin decoder for motored end unit

ESU 58219 LokSound 5 FX 21-MTC decoder for non-motored end unit

ESU 51967 21-MTC adapter board & NEM852 8 pin plug

DCCSound premium speakers for SRM U set

Disassembly:

1) Gently splay out the lower edge of the body and lift it up and away from the chassis.

Installation:

Motored unit:

1) Remove the 8 pin plug/PCB and set aside in a safe place.

2) Place the speaker on top of the passenger compartment chassis. A small amount of glue may be used to hold is in place.

3) Wire the speaker to the decoder's two brown speaker wires.

4) Tape the decoder and any loose wires to the speaker using Kapton or equivalent tape.

5) Plug the decoder in and ensure all wires are a neat fit.

Non-motored unit:

1) Remove the 8 pin plug/PCB and set aside in a safe place.

2) Place the speaker in the driver's cab space. The speaker is a neat fit over two round features on the cab floor. A small amount of glue may be used to hold it in place.

3) Wire the speaker to the decoder's two speaker solder pads.

4) For a neat fit, a LokSound 5 FX 21-MTC decoder is used in combination with the 51967 21-MTC adapter board. An NEM852/8 pin plug and 8 wires are connected to the 21-MTC adapter board, then the 8 pin plug is connected to the model's 8 pin socket. A small piece of double sided tape is used to locate the items neatly in the model.

Reassembly:

Carefully refit the bodies, ensuring no detail parts or wires are damaged during reassembly.
