Items used:
ESU 58429 LokSound 5 DCC 21-MTC decoder
DCCSound Premium sugarcube speaker to suit Auscision 600 class
Disassembly
To access the 21 pin plug, the body is removed from the chassis. Turn the model upside down and remove the coupler assemblies, 2 screws next to each coupler and set these aside in a safe place.
Disconnect the small handbrake chain under the cab. Then, gently lift the body off from the chassis.

Next, remove the Auscision speaker enclosure, noting it may be glued to the chassis.
Remove the two screws which fix the Auscision motherboard to the chassis.
Installation
If starting off with a DC model, move the two plugs across from the "DC" sockets to the "DCC" sockets on the Auscision motherboard. Reroute the lighting wiring harness from the underside of the motherboard to the top side, which will make plugging the decoder in and positioning the speaker easier.

Wire the speaker to the decoder, ensuring the drivers are wired in parallel and in phase.
Gently lift the motherboard up and fit the decoder and long hood end speaker in place. Note the orientation of the decoder when plugging it in (the 21 pin header on the decoder faces down once mounted). Position the speaker in the space under the decoder.
Check that the speaker wires do not get pinched when refitting the motherboard back down onto the chassis.
The large side grilles are held to the body with retaining features located on the inside of the body. Ensure these small features are folded over and sitting flat against the inside of the body, otherwise they may interfere with the speaker when the body is reassembled to the chassis.
Once all wires are protected and held in place using Kapton or equivalent tape, gently place the body back onto the chassis. Refit the prior removed body screws and coupler assemblies.
