Items used:

ESU 58429 LokSound 5 DCC 21-MTC decoder

DCCSound Premium sugarcube speakers to suit Auscision 600 class

Disassembly

To access the 21 pin plug, the body is removed from the chassis. Turn the model upside down and remove the coupler assemblies, 2 screws next to each coupler and set aside in a safe place.

Then, gently lift the body off from the chassis.

Next, remove the Auscision speaker enclosure via two small screws securing it to the metal chassis.

Remove the two screws which fix the Auscision motherboard to the chassis.

Installation

If starting off with a DC model, move the plug from the "DC" socket to the "DCC" socket on the Auscision motherboard.

Wire the two speakers to the decoder, ensuring they are are wired in parallel and in phase.

Gently lift the motherboard up and fit the decoder and long hood end speaker in place.

Check that the speaker wires do not get pinched when refitting the motherboard back down onto the chassis.

Use CA glue or equivalent to bond the short hood end speaker to the chassis.

Route the two speaker wires down along the chassis so as to not interfere with the cab during reassembly.

Once all wires are protected and held in place using Kapton or equivalent tape, gently place the body back onto the chassis.

Refit the prior removed body screws and coupler assemblies.
