Items used:

ESU 58325 LokSound 5 L DCC decoder

DCCSound Premium twin driver sugarcube speaker for O scale DERM (1 pair)

First, the body is removed from the chassis via 10 small screws. Set these aside in a safe place.

The Haskell motherboard is removed from the guard's compartment ceiling to enable full DCC control of lighting.

This particular model had an aftermarket "NWSL Stanton" drive (DC) fitted having rep[laced the factory drive unit.

Not alot of room exists in the guard's compartment for the decoder, though it does fit if placed on an angle. A decoder mounting system was designed and 3D printed, mounting to the ceiling where the DC lighting board was originally located.

The wiring was configured as follows, with a 4 pin plug installed between chassis and decoder to permit future separation:

1) Left (Driver's) side rail pickup from both bogies to "TRK L" on decoder mounting board

2) Right side rail pickup to "TRK R" on decoder mounting board

3) Orange motor wire to "Mot+" on decoder mounting board

4) Grey motor wire to "Mot-" on decoder mounting board

5) # 1 end headlight -ve wire (with 1kohm resistor) to "FL"on decoder mounting board

6) # 2 end headlight -ve wire (with 1kohm resistor) to "RL" on decoder mounting board

7) Interior LEDs -ve wire (with 1kohm resistor) to "Aux 1" on decoder mounting board

8) All LEDs +ve wires to "U+" on decoder mounting board

9) Speaker # 1 wires to SP1- & SP1+ on decoder mounting board

10) Speaker # 2 wires to SP2- & SP2+ on decoder mounting board

Speakers should be wired in phase, i.e. they both pump in the same direction at the same time, for maximum sound volume and clarity. Speakers are then fixed to the ceiling using double sided tape.

The body is refitted to the chassis and model tested. This particular model was programmed with DCCSound's DERM sound project.
