Locomotion by Hornby

This model is one of three from Hornby's Birth of the Railways train pack.

Items required: ESU LokSound 5 Micro (Next18 interface) decoder

Disassembly:

Handle the model carefully to minimise damage.

All work is completed in the tender. The engine and tender are turned upside and a small screw removed from under the tender floor which holds the coal load and tank in place.

Assembly:

The Next18 DC board is removed. The decoder is plugged in.

The speaker is loose as it comes in the model, so to enhance the sound quality, bond the perimeter of the speaker driver to the chassis weight in the tank. Be careful not to get adhesive on the face of the speaker driver.

Refit the speaker and weight to the top of the tender. The two speaker wires are quite short and may disconnect the decoder during reassembly, so check to ensure the decoder remains plugged in at the Next18 interface.

Place the tank and coal load molding back in place. the coal load may sit a little higher due to the thickness of the decoder.
