ESU 58820 LokSound 5 Micro DCC sound decoder with A2 class sound project
ESU 54671 PowerPack mini
ESU 51942 Fine wire (black)
The decoder and speakers are located in the tender. The example below shows a factory fitted Zimo MS decoder, which will be changed out to an ESU LokSound decoder.
The two 11x15mm speaker drivers are located underneath the Ixion motherboard.
1) Separate the engine from tender and place the engine aside.
2) To access the space inside the tender, remove the four small screws, located on the underside of the tender floor.

Note:
If an ESU Power pack (stay alive) is to be fitted, it must be reworked to fit inside the limited space. In the example below, the heatshrink is removed, and capacitor separated from the PCB with ESU fine wire (note the polarity when resoldering). The PowerPack Mini is then wired to the three solder pads on the ESU decoder, located adjacent to the Next18 plug.

4) Unplug the Zimo decoder and fit an ESU one via the Next18 connector. If working with a factory DC model, remove the DC PCB at the Next18 socket and fit the decoder of choice.

5) Fit the tender top back onto the chassis and refit the 4 small screws to secure it.
6) Reconnect the tender to the engine and test the model for operation.
