DCCSound Premium speaker for IDR DERM
First, the couplers must be removed in order to lift the body up and off from the chassis.
To aid with access, the plate cow-catchers may be removed from the body as they are a friction fit into the body.
For DC factory models, the 21-MTC DC board is removed and the decoder fitted to the 21 pin plug on the model's lighting board.

For DCC models, which come with a LokSound 5 decoder, the next step is remove the factory speaker, which uses a 11x15mm driver and is mounted to the motherboard.
The DCCSound speaker is soldered to the two speaker solder pads on the motherboard. Alternatively, the speaker can be direct wired to the decoder.

The speaker is then placed into position as shown above. A small amount of thin glue is used to bond the bottom of the speaker to the chassis, such as MicroScale KristalKlear.
The body is then placed back onto the chassis and couplers refitted.
